Last month I was aproached by Amy the Administrator at Cal Oaks Senior Living. Amy wanted to speak with me about my mothers care. We discuss how there was very little improvement in her health. Amy suggested we consider Hospice. My mother would receive one on one care with a nurse daily to make sure she was comfortable. I reluctantly agreed. The first week in April I notice my mother had not been bathe for a few days, she smelled of urine and said she was in pain. I went to Jasmine the Asst. Administrator immediately and she said she would called the Hospice nurse. I was puzzled would Cal Oaks no longer care for my mother. I told Amy to have someone bathe my mom immediately and please give her, her medicine and to please leave water in the room at all times. The Hospice nurse came a few hours later, her name was Stephanie. Stephanie checked my mom and told me she would contact the doctor to give her something stronger for the pain. A few days later I notice my mom was sleeping a lot and smelled of urine and no water in the room. I call Amy and explain my concerns again. Amy had the caregiver bathe my mom and bring water in the room. On Sat April 21, 2018 I arrived with lunch and a cake for my mom's birthday. I notice my mom was very lethargic and was not interacting at all with the family. We stayed all day! Unfortunately she slept the whole day. I returned again on Sunday and notice she was mubbing and couldn't speak. I called the ambulance immediately. My mother was placed in ICU. I was told she was oversedated and her blood pressure was extremely low and her kidneys had shut down. My mom was also extremely constipated from the pain medications with no water in the room. She was also suffering from colitis. A centerline had to be placed in her aeorta to bring her blood pressure back to normal levels and then manually remove stoole. After a few days of regulating her meds her kidney function returned . Unfortunately she had to remain in ICU for serveral days to

i was very happy in the beginning when the changed owners from villa lea to cal oaks but they required lots of paperwork which I did to be sure my mother-in-law received the best care but they are very bad with the billing paperwork and the worst thing that happened was at the ending part of my mother-in-law's life they urged me to put her on hospice which i promptly did but less than 2 months later she was in the hospital and they had stopped hospice without telling me so in order to leave the hospital I needed to re-do paperwork for hospice and I took the hospice the dr suggested and they wanted me to stay with morning star hospice but i had already signed on with inland regional. they became very rude and as my mother-in-law was about to be transported to cal oaks they told me they were refusing her --she was dying and for me to tell the hospital to keep her-as you can tell how emotional this was she was brought her last minute and died 9 days later --she had been at that facility for over 8 years
