Rainbow Steps' Windsor House
Rainbow Steps' first home, Windsor House, is for residents who are physically able to climb a few steps to their rooms or walk down to the community room. Located on a small lake, the house was renovated to enhance the view of the lake from the kitchen, dining room, living room and the back deck.
Enjoy the blue herons fishing just 50 feet from the house, or spy on the meter-long carp that populate the waters of Hudson Spring Lake. Orioles, finches, woodpeckers, cardinals, ducks and Canadian geese are your neighbors at Windsor House. Fishing is permitted, although it is a catch and release lake A private beach is accessible within 1/4 mile and for those who like to walk, right across the street is access to one of the MetroParks with trails, another lake, row boat rentals, etc.
We are located three miles from Downtown Hudson with its summer weekend music programs, upscale shopping area, sophisticated dining spots, farmers market and weekly cruise-ins. In the opposite direction, the house is just three miles from Streetsboro's Walmart, Starbucks, etc.
Windsor House is accepting its very first residents, and eventually will be housing six to eight residents.
About the Founder - Danielle Hayduk
I grew up in France where no one cares about anyone's sexual orientation. Love whoever you want. I remember when my best friend in high school called me to tell me he had come to the realization that he liked men more than women. It was just an announcement. As for myself, I never thought I needed to broadcast who I was attracted to.
Back in the States, I am appalled at what the members of the LGBTQA+ community have endured. The idea that in some cases the elderly feel they have to go back in the closet to receive the care they need is not something anyone should have to go through. This is how I can help, by opening up homes where we all support one another and we can be ourselves. We all deserve that in our old age.
