Atria Oakridge

After my father passed away my mother moved in with me. After a year it became clear that what she really needed was to be around those her own age (her peers). She was lonely. So, I started looking and comparing communities and decided on Atria. My mom was not initially on board with this decision, but I told her we had to at least try this option. It took a couple of months for her to adapt but she now has a great group of friends now and they all encourage each other to participate in activities such as cards, art classes, outings, etc. The social directors are awesome, and they also encourage participation. In hindsight, it was the best decision we made. She is much happier surrounded by her own age group. The bonus is that housekeeping and meals are provided so she can just enjoy activities with her friends. The staff is very accommodating and a great resource. They just had an ice cream social that most of the residents went to, and it was a blast. Great decorations and of course the ice cream sundaes...too good!
