Atria Salisbury

Like many other comments on Yelp and other review webpages, we were also misled by Atria's sales person about Atria's ability to care for my husband who was for the most part independent. We were completely transparent about his condition; they rated his care and assured us that Aria was the right place for him. Not only did they not provide what they had promised, the treatment that he received was completely inadequate.....no shower for two weeks, no assistance with daily tasks as they had adamantly claimed they would provide during the sales meeting. On the occasions when my husband needed attention, they informed us that we needed to hire 24/7 care from an independent source to be paid out of our own pocket. It's one thing not to provide adequate care, but it's another thing to have a disrespectful attitude towards patients and families. A particular employee at Atria Salisbury (who I will not name here), was extremely rude, insensitive and did not give a damn about the care of my husband. Her main focus was getting our money which was always timely paid. Someone with her negative attitude should not be working in a place that is supposed to be providing "care". It was obvious that she hated working there. I wonder why? Atria kicked my husband out because he fell and was injured; they claimed they couldn't care for him any longer. They made no effort to improve the situation nor to help us find another facility. As of today, they owe us a significant amount of money and after many attempts to get reimbursed through the corporate office, we have yet to get the situation resolved; it has been more than two months. Don't be fooled by the fresh flowers in the lobby and if your loved one needs any kind of assistance with ANYTHING, do NOT go to Atria. Your loved one will be ignored and not well cared for and then they will tell you that you need to hire private care because they don't want to help and they just don't care. They should not be allowed to claim that this facility is a "senior assisted living" community.
