My father has respite stays throughout the year. He has always been happy, clean and well taken care of on all of his visits. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Mom never worried when he goes to Coronado.

This is not a good place for your loved one. My sister was assigned to go to Coronado by the hospital to help her regain her strength and put on much needed weight. At first she was put into a reasonably sized semi-private room with a window. Less than a week later when she came back from physical therapy they unexpectedly took her to a new room that was approximately a 4"x 6" cubicle. When she asked 'why the new room?' they told her it's the room she always had. There wasn't even room for a chair to sit on, when I visited. I had to sit on her bed with her if I wanted to sit down. They left her in this darkened cubicle for 23 hours a day with the curtain pulled tight. Over the two and half weeks she was there I watched her health deteriorate. She was being fed intravenously, which was supposed to only be for a couple of days. After two weeks she asked how much longer before she could switch to real food and they lied to her and told her she had only been there for a few days. This made her question her own sanity. She lost weight and developed a blood infection while she was there and they were talking about sending her home. Her family doesn't live in Phoenix and they were all excited that she would be going home. Coronado had even setup a conference call between my sister, the director, and her Dr. to take place the next afternoon and the Director was going to recommend that she be sent home. I knew my sister was not ready to go home, there had been no improvement in her condition, in fact physically and medically she was in worse shape than when she arrived. 45 minutes after my sister mentioned to the Coronado staff that her sister (me) was trying to get her transferred to a better facility they transferred her to John C. Lincoln hospital to treat the blood infection that they and my sister had known about for four days. Can you imagine if she had been sent home? Coronado could have claimed no responsibility for her declined state or for the infection and blame
