Cortland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center

Our mother was inpatient at Cortland Park Rehabilitation for a few weeks after surgery recently. On the positive side the Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist are very good. The nutritionist was engaged and ensured that my mother was on the appropriate diet. My Mother did mention that she really liked the aides. We were told before admission that my mother would be receiving PT/ OT 6 days / week. That is not the case there is a skeleton crew on Saturday and Sunday's. Please keep your expectations low when it comes to the Social Worker and Nurses. One hand does not know what the other hand is doing. It was obvious they were not used to having patients that had there faculties. My mother was transported to Syracuse by Van and the driver called in sick. They recruited there Custodian to drive and he never locked the wheel chair in the van. He began driving and hit a bump and my mother went flying. They attempted to cover this up. Another evening, my mother called stating that there was a strange man in her bathroom. I call the nurses station and they laughed it off stating it was such and such patient and he does that to all the rooms. Really??? On another evening my mother calls me and tells me that there is a different man laying in the other bed in the room under the covers. Again, I called the nurses station to find out what was happening. I was told that there was another patient with dementia that was put in the room. Really?? My mother was in the Rehabilition Unit? Why is a dementia patient being assigned to a semi private Rehab room and it was her husband laying in the bed. They apologized. If you are not up for a full time job advocating for your parent and want to ensure that they have the best of care then please choose another facility. If you have already selected Cortland Park Rehab, think again unless its outpatient. This is not a place for a loved one. If I could give this facility less than 1 star I would
