Crestview Acres

Oh I would dearly love to give Crestview Acres ZERO stars! I RESIDE in this place and cannot say much good! They are short-staffed always but weekends are a nightmare! The owners have ridiculously spent so much $$ to have entire inside of here painted via brush (not a roller in sight!) and in the dirty tan that nobody likes! They put down new flooring to mimic wood. Yet Crestview employees who didn’t have a clue laid it. And less than. 4 months later it is peeling, cracking, separating and lifting up! The owners evidently also in last two months okayed re-do of SOME kitchen stuff (again all done by employees!). But what did NOT receive is new refrigerator and freezer! And these are, at best, erratic in working. Senior Advice says there have been serious complaints by no penalties or fines. Utterly disgustingly wrong! 18 months ago Dept of Inspections penalized Crestview because there was no washcloths available to residents. And the fine was OVER $7500! Less than 5 months later this zoo got penalized for SAME PROBLEM, with fine equaling ditto PLUS second fine of over $1500 because Crestview had not corrected the problem first time! Just before Christmas 2019 DofI came again. They issued 7 penalties and fines of over $20,000 for these issues! A tremendously serious problem is the kitchen. Directed by an inept guy who has more excuses than Carter has liver pills. We forever “do not have” such staples as white bread, ice cream, pink packets, syrup, and cannot stick to printed menus NOR provide tasteful safe food and snacks. We have eaten hot dogs on Christmas Day and been told we cannot have egg salad sandwiches —because they don’t know how to make them! Nursing and support staff cannot begin to do justice. Nor are showers provided regularly but off/on. And often separated by two weeks. Maintenance cannot get heat system straightened out and my room is over 80 degrees. And their response to dripping water faucet is to turn off the hot water! This is not what I pay to receive respectful and caring room and board....NOR is it what Medicaid Iowa pays Crestview to provide! So shame on Senior Advice for dishonesty and Crestview for not being honest and closing this ancient pile of bricks FOR GOOD! There’s no reason whatsoever that Crestview has right to even BE open—it is listed as one of the 100 Worst Care Centers in the USA!
