Mom started hospice at home, where she could be with her husband, pets and friends. It sounded good...but she soon found her husband's dementia made it impossible for him to understand her condition, her dog jumping on her was painful, and she was often just tired when friends visited. Plus, she needed more care, and I wanted her closer to me.I looked into adult family homes. I wanted someplace close that works well with hospice and has experienced caregivers. She wanted a nice, clean house with a spacious room, private bathroom, good food, a decent view out the window, a patio...and some friendly residents to chat with. And outgoing, energetic caregivers.English Hill Care Home was sounded the best after many tours. I was nervous though...you can't really sample the care on a tour. But I needn't have worried. The caretakers were fantastic. My mother didn't get to enjoy her new home for long, but English Hill Care Home provided everything we wanted and needed.
