There are actually a few very caring people that work there, and then there are the others. The day nurse for the 100 hallway is pathetic and has no business there. I was able to see my dad almost every day for 6 weeks once it opened to essential caregivers. I saw my father’s health decline over this time dramatically. Since he was 91, I knew his time was coming to an end, especially when the doctor saw a mass behind his heart in an X-ray. I was informed to let family know. My sister wanted to see him and at first I was told it was okay. She was even going to take a Covid test like I had been doing. Then we were told she couldn’t till eminent death. Hospice was called in. That nurse saw him twice. Each time the information gotten from the day nurse guided this hospice nurse’s opinion as to what was happening. After the second Thursday she saw him, my dad died Saturday night. The weekend people knew there was a problem and helped me get him classified as eminent. My sister, who lived 8 hours away, was never able to see our dad alive again. No one on the main staff called, sent a card or flowers. But yet, they just ‘loved him so much’. Refunds for private payers were to be approved after 3 days. It happened on 12/12. Today is 1/2. I could say so much more on conditions when I went for my scheduled visit that the nurse wasn’t informed first about. Or the way she never noted things I had concerns about. Or the way he was dressed for eye dr appointments using clothes that didn’t fit him verses good clothes he had available there.
