Hebrew Home of Greater Washington

When I arrived I was taken to my room in a wheelchair where I sat for two hours waiting for someone to come help me into bed. While I was waiting my knee began to swell. I just had knee replacement surgery and was considered a fall risk. So I needed assistance to get into the bed. Eventually I just figured out a way to get into bed and thankfully I did not fall. The nursing staff were very incompetent especially with my pain management. I would sit in my room for hours in pain sometimes in tears because I did not receive my pain medication in a timely manner. I was only there for three days because I had enough. My incision was starting to bleed through my bandages because of the swelling in my leg. I called my surgeon's office as to what I should do and they instructed me to let the nurse know so that they could change my dressing. Without removing the old bandage the nurse manager started to put a clean gauze dressing over the leaking bandage. I told her to stop. Eventually I had to get the surgeon's office back on the phone and they instructed them step by step on how to care for and change my dressing. The only saving grace at this facility was the Physical Therapist. They did a wonderful job in helping me to get to the point where I was able to leave the facility early. The quality of care has drastically gone down since my time there just a little over two years ago. If I could give them a zero rating I would. I would not recommend this facility to my worse enemy.

My mom (88 years old) stayed at Hebrew Home recovering from hip fracture after a fall and after Covid. Her stay has been so wonderful, nurses were so devoted, the doctor was very thorough and very dedicated. She did not miss anything during her daily examination of my mom. Anytime she called for help, people came right away. The physical therapists were so helpful, pushing her when they felt she could walk more. The equipment room has everything and is up to date with all the equipments. The place is very inviting, very clean. The food according to my gourmet mother is so tasty. After 35 days there, she is home and uses all the tools she was taught for walking. She enjoyed all the caretakers so much, she wanted to stay longer. If anyone needs a rehab facility, this is the best place. A special shoutout and thank you to Ruth, Dr. Amsler, Oscar, Jennifer, Pascal, Julia, Sharon, and so many others that have made my mom’s stay comfortable. She felt like being home. Thank you Hebrew Home for being the best standard in rehab.

My aunt is 99 yrs old, wheelchair-bound, and due to a stroke unable to care for herself or stand. This is an excellent facility for her and others.Her room is sunny, cheery, comfortable. The staff is magnificent from the doctors, nurses, and very important her daily caregivers, as well as the culinary personnel and custodial crew.She has been here 4 yrs and has had the same personal caregivers the whole time. They are loving, attentive, professional, empathetic, and compassionate. The staff knows her. They treat her as family, as royalty.Before COVID-19 I visited her at least twice a week and know 1st hand, there have been no issues because they are thorough and her care is consistently great. If she gets a hangnail I receive a call the moment it is discovered day or night. There are musical events, crafts, bingo, movies, and more. There are special events for holidays that include family.Amenities - a library, a conservatory, lounges, chapel, garden, several pianos for the residents, a hair and nail salon, and more.To date only one case of COVID-19 on her floor. Because they are diligent, careful, and thorough.

I was a patient In the Hebrew Home and found the nurses Joo Hee, Sharon, Sirah, Isatu, and others to be friendly and helpful. The late night nurses, were terrific (I am sorry that I forgot their names) At night I would find my drinking water refreshed and garbage emptied. In addition, I found all the nurses assistants to be most helpful. Adama an Amelia were outstanding.Also, the ot and pt people were outstanding. Kiara, Thia Twinkle Suerta, Lisa, Jessee, Christene, and others very helpful and friendly. They taught me how to walk reach,and use good posture.Doctor Brown was awesome. She actually took time to explain things to me in simple language.Also, Roslyn the receptionist was very helpful. She also helped the nurses by answering calls by residents.
