Huntington Drive Health and Rehabilitation Center

To start out, my father-in-law stayed here twice years ago and we had positive experiences. The place is old but was adequate. During the pandemic my spunky mother-in-law fell, had surgery, and was here November 17 -28th. Unknown to us, she came home with Covid, going downhill right when she came home as we tried to figure out why. She died on December 14th. If you look at Huntington’s announcements their Covid outbreak occurred her last week there, with them publicly acknowledging Covid cases a couple days after her discharge. We called to ask why they didn’t call us, and they seemed callous that she got it there – saying she tested negative. Her only Covid test was done 8 days before her discharge!! If only they had notified recently discharged patients, we could have saved two deaths (my father-in-law contracted it and also died), the hospitalization of my husband for Covid pneumonia, who survived, and a total of 5 people who got infected from her. We complained to the County, who looked into it and said they were following protocol. But no contact or acknowledgement ever from Huntington, no sympathy expressed. Aside from this terrible pandemic experience – my mother-in-law said services had deteriorated much since my father-in-law was there. Avoid them.
