Kirkhaven

Is any nursing Home really good? I am beginning to wonder. My dear friend, who had dementia, was there for about 5 months. I finally hired a private advocate who would visit periodically at different times of the day due to the fact that I was so concerned with his care at Kirkhaven. Aides simply do a mediocre job and show little respect. Cannot recall how many clothes, all labeled disappeared. I would find this man dressed in someone else's clothes, way to small, cannot even begin to describe it. I was told that patients go into one another's room and take clothes, etc., etc. In reality i should have sued Kirkhaven. My friend was such a caring, gentle man of 67, would never intentionally hurt anyone. i had noticed that he became very protective of a woman there. Would help her out of her chair, sat with her and protested when the aides rudely would pull her up out of her chair. Well, he actually did try to prevent that by trying to push the aide aside. Immediately, guards were called and he was literally dragged into a elevator to be taken to Strong for I do not know what reason, nor did I ever find out. major wound on his arm, from being manhandled. Tied down to a bed (could they not tell he was scared? I could go on and on, only to say that 3 weeks later he was dead. He was healthy except for the dementia, but due to being tied down for days he developed pneumonia, the rest is history. Never will I be able to forgive Kirkhaven for their involvement in this. I would go in to see him every other day since I lived out of town. Listening to other people there and asking how they stay all day with their loved one, I would hear, "you will quickly learn as to why".
