Life Care Center of Stonegate

I was at Life Care Center at Stonegate for about a month, after being transferred from Parker Adventist Hospital. During that time I experienced nothing less than first class in-room care and physical therapy from all the staff there. The PT and OT personnel were excellent and pushed me to overcome my inabilities. The food quality and preparation, as well as the facility's decor, were like one would expect from a fine hotel.

I thought my brother was in good hands when he was transferred from the hospital in Parker. That was not what we found out. Not one call from the staff to update his condition during his stay. We had to ask the staff how he was doing, with a reply that you would have to go down the hall to check with another staff member. The time that it took a staff member to respond for a call button press could take up to 45 minutes or more. Help in feeding (cutting up the food, opening a can of soda) did not exist. We felt that most of the staff didn’t care or show any compassion towards the patient. We were then told that my brother was not a good fit for long term, but after we made arrangements to move him they changed their mind. I would not recommend Stonegate based on our experience, I should have read the prior reviews first.

2/22/2019I just spent 2 1/2 weeks at Life Care Center at Stonegate. Some of the RN’s during the day were top notch. The RN’s working the night shift were slow at getting meds to patients late, would not look in on patients that had their call lights on. I even saw a male RN going room to room with medications having a conversation with someone on speaker phone. How could he pay attention to giving the right meds to patients. The food was limited and not very good and some meals were like left-overs. If I ever need to go to a facility again, it won’t be this one.

My two month stay at the Life Care Center of Stonegate as an inpatient was pretty good. Staff was mostly adequate and some of the nurses were exceptional. So I would give that portion of the review 4 stars. And the subsequent Outpatient Physical Therapy for the next 5 months, was very helpful in my recovery. Good and friendly therapists that treated me with care and concern. HOWEVER... the billing department has many problems. Including very slow billing and bad information. I made the mistake of believing the coordinator of the PT section when she said that she would "Take care of everything" with insurance coverage. She came to us and told us that insurance had approved 60 visits of outpatient therapy (when they had only approved 20). He used 43 visits total, and the insurance only paid for the 20 visits. We are being billed for the remaining 23 visits and it will come out of pocket. The Director of the facility has refused to accept responsibility for Stonegate's error and will not reduce the cost to us for the portion that insurance didn't cover. They are now threatening to send us to collections for the $1600 plus bill. Part of this was my fault because I trusted them to tell me the truth, but mostly it is the outpatient therapy coordinator's fault for giving me false information on insurance coverage. Lesson to be learned - Don't trust anyone! Check it out for yourself.
