My father went to Royal Cape Cod Rehab after knee surgery. Unfortunately, after 1 day he fell out of bed (even though I spoke to the administrator to notify them his mind was foggy since surgery and I was concerned) so after a 2nd hospital stay he went back for 3 weeks only to call daily begging for help, stating he was in agony noone would help him. Not being able to visit due to Covid made things difficult. Dina the head nurse in unit 3 said he was prob. just uncomfortable from his catheter, however his PT was nice enough to ck my dad and the line was wrapped around his scrotum causing the pain. Dina should have checked my father. His Social worker Brenda kept me informed, told me that my father was improving in his PT daily. After 3 weeks we agreed he could be released on 9/9/20 @ 2:30 I arrived early, my dad was brought out by 2 nurses in a wheel chair along with his clothing folded in a bag. I asked if he could "go # 2 by himself" I was told yes along as he has help walking to the rest room.Well, we had to call a neighbor to get my father in the house. He couldn't even walk w his walker from the car to the door. He couldn't wipe his own butt. When I called to ask why I was told he was doing so great when in reality he could hardly hold himself up I WAS TOLD, I took him home against medical direction!!! I never got a Dr on the phone the whole time he was there! The PT who came to the house the day after he came home agreed with me, she also said the facility neglected to notify the Ins. Co. that my father had been released. I'll never let him go there again!!! Nor do I recommend it. My father said some of the staff was so rude he wanted to kill himself. He could hear them saying " the pain in the ass is ringing his buzzer again!" That's they're job!

Some great staff but they are always way understaffed. The kitchen makes lot of mistakes and the food is terrible. The staff doctor I felt was totally incompetent and unengaged. One of the head nurses was really sour. Regular staff mostly warm and caring but not even close to enough people on the units.
