Shawnee Manor

My Dad was transferred to Shawnee Manor for rehabilitation after a hospital stay for COVID-19 in December 2020. There were several issues from the beginning. We were required to deliver some of his home medical equipment ahead of his transfer. We did so, and handed it directly to an employee along with his hearing aids, a change of clothes and a soft cervical collar he uses to support his neck to reduce headaches from a previous surgery. Even after talking with several employees and getting a different story from each the box with his hearing aids was "lost" for days. A second cervical collar was dropped off because they said they didn't get or couldn't find the first one. We later found out that a bag containing the collar and personal items were still in a bag, unopened, stuck up in a wardrobe cupboard. The very worst thing about the situation was the fact that no one answered the phone when we called to get updates on Dad's rehabilitation progress. Many family members tried and tried and tried to call but the phone just rang out. Because we could't visit during the pandemic, it seems to me that it is even more important that these facilities keep the lines of communication open. My Dad has since been transferred to another facility at our request. He has confirmed our fears that his treatment was poor while at Shawnee Manor.
