This has to be a rather anonymous review for fear of any retribution aimed at my parents. They are currently residents in the assisted living portion of Skyline called the Terraces. I had the occasion to visit them in what is considered to be an upscale facility at a much higher average expense in Seattle and for that matter in the entire country. What I have discovered is less than acceptable treatment rendered and under something I consider horrendous conditions. Staff arrives to make their bed and provide their meals, but totally ignore the filth accumulating in their apartment. They do nothing to clean the restroom or the small 400' square apartment. Their meals measure less than 4 ounces per and are substandard to say the least. I witnessed another apartment which had been recently vacated. The squalor was incomprehensible. I was patently obvious nothing had been done to clean prior to the resident's departure. My most considered opinion of the situation at Skyline is far less than what should be expected by a facility that charges a million dollars or more for the privilege of living there. I've also learned the care givers are not exceptionally pleased when asked to assist (assist in an assisted living facility) with my mother's need to use the restroom during the night. She needs help - pays for the help at an enormous cost - yet is received with hostility when asking for that assistance. And if additional help is needed (a subjective assessment by STAFF) the resident is required to secure that additional aid out of their own pockets. Anyone under any circumstance should consider long and hard, factoring in what is offered, subsequently actually provided, and at what expense, before making a commitment to this appalling facility. I strongly urge anyone considering this facility keep in mind, Skyline's primary objective is not seeing to the needs of their residents, it is to make a profit. The profit motive then negatively influences care staff (one care provider for two floors), food portion sizes, and skilled nursing staff commensurate with the population. Imagine if you will, an elderly person has fallen and help is a floor away and that staff member has no idea why the panic button was activated - yet he or she is managing others under various circumstances simultaneously. Gather your thoughts and visualize the possible tragic outcome. I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone for any reason.
