Beware. Please find a place other then Stella Maris. Ground Knot is one of the uncaring floors there. they make fun of the patients, every time you visit your loved one burses, black eyes and even broken bones. they rip the elderly patients out of bed like rag dolls with no compassion of their pain and frailness. they nick name them ex the screamer! yes many screams and cries for help come from the rooms in ground knot and it is so sad that they employees unkind staff that hate their jobs and patients and they take it out on them...especially the night shift. they are dishonest and never give you the real story of what happened to your loved one. The food i would not feed a dog...it is awful .. poor patients died of malnutrition and dehydration. Make sure you take lots of photos and document everything they tell you that is done to your loved one...make sure you are there as much as you can be..don't let them intimidate you!!! i know it is hard but if YOUR NOT there the neglect is intense.all i can say is they have aids and RN's that hate their job and they have one aid per 10 elderly patients. oh keep your ears open the very unfriendly staff talk so badly about the poor souls and their families. PLEASE FIND A DIFFERENT PLACE FOR YOUR LOVED ONE . Cal Ripken and Bob Erlich will be receiving a letter/phone call from me …they have their photos and comment about how wonderful Stella Maris in the hallway that takes you to GK ...but then again that was decades ago so both need to be updated on the major decline. the department of aging will also be addressed.

Beware. Please find a place other then Stella Maris. Ground Knot is one of the uncaring floors there. They make fun of the patients. every time you visit your loved one you find burses, black eyes and even broken bones and bed sores. They rip the elderly patients out of bed like rag dolls with no compassion of their pain and frailness. They leave the bed ridden patient lying in their urine and feces for hours. The staff nick name the patients condescending names ex the screamer! Yes many screams and cries for help come from the rooms in ground knot and it is so sad that they employee unkind staff that hate their jobs and patients. Where's the compassion, dignity and respect that they have on all of the lovely advertisements? Well it's not found on Ground Knot. I am sure the Knot Family would be mortified to know what is happing on this shameful floor. If the staff is having a bad day or overworked they take it out on patients...been there witness that many times...especially the night shift. They are dishonest and never give you the real story of what happened to your loved one. The food is horrible I would not feed it to a dog...it is awful ..there are patients wondering the halls walking into your loved ones rooms removing their items such as clothing, nick naks, any thing that is not glued down or locked up. Imgine being bed ridded and watching patients take you things right out of your room that belong to you. No supervision and when you ask about how to keep the wonders out of your loved ones room they respond that they have dementia and don't know what their doing...well isn't it Stella Maris's staffs job to make sure it doesn't happen. How terrifying is that. The poor patients died of malnutrition and dehydration. Make sure you take lots of photos and document everything they tell you that is done to your loved one...make sure you are there as much as you can be..don't let them intimidate you!!! I know it is hard but if YOUR NOT there the neglect is intense. They have aids and RN's that hate their jobs...just there for a paycheck and they have one aid per 10 elderly patients. Oh keep your ears open the very unfriendly staff talk so badly about the poor souls and their families. PLEASE FIND A DIFFERENT PLACE FOR YOUR LOVED ONE . Cal Ripken and Bob Erlich will be receiving a letter/phone call from me …they have their photos and comments about how wonderful Stella Maris hanging in the hallway on the long walk to GK ...but then again that was decades ago when their pictures where hung so both need to be updated on the major decline. The department of aging also needs to be aware. Please don't leave your loved one in the hands of Stella Maris. There needs to be a major change there.God Bless and I hope this information saves you a lot of grief and heart ache.

Horrible!!!! My daughter has the misfortune to be sent to Stella Maris Hospice from Mercy Hospital after chemo. She was sent in the middle of the night and she remained on the "guerney" god knows where until she "died" at 4:00 AM and then she was placed ON A BED - showing how she died - screaming in Pain!! This place robbed me of precious time with my daughter and I want them held accountable!!!

No dignity or respect here. Don't believe the photos they have nicely displayed on Stella's website. The majority of the rooms look like hospital rooms. Very poor staffing, rude and quite intimidating to patients and families. Patients have been known to wait for up to 45 mins or more after they push the button to get assistance for the bathroom or any type of help. Eventually they don't even try to ask for anything for fear of retribution. If you are on a floor with patients with dementia they are a loud to wonder into others rooms and take their clothing, magazines, books, eye glasses...basically anything not hidden and locked up (they do not provide locks). When you report it to the staff they answer with "oh well this is what demented patients do" REALLY?? They line them up in a row in front of the nurses station in there wheel chairs were they sit most of the day and night after lunch and dinner. One nurse aid to 13 patients is unacceptable. They have a small kitchen off of the dirty dinning area that is filthy. The staff has zero compassion for the elderly with dementia. I have seen them make fun of them, scold them and neglect there calls for help. So sad to experience this. Many of the staff members should not be aloud to work with the elderly. They are not taught how to deal with the poor old souls. It is all about the money. Please take heed and keep your loved ones away from this facility.

From St. Elizabeth Hall to the rehab, I hate this place and hope I never set foot on the property ever again. The apartments are old and dirty. The stove was a piece of crap. The food in the cafeteria is horrible. The rehab facility writes you up as unable to return to independent living but gives you five days notice and charges $420 a day for everyday you cannot move out. Then the apartment wants 30 days notice to charge rent but they will not allow you back. What a joke. It is all about the money. If you die while living in their apartment, they consider the date of your death the 30 day notice and if you are on HUD assistance, they charge the first 14 days at the HUD rate and the remaining days at the prime rental rate. Another joke. I mean you are dead for God's sake.
