The Plaza at Lubbock

a day agoNEWThis has been the absolute worst experience of our lives. My mother was put into this facility August 5th. She had to wait 2 days before she got any of her medications, they refused to listen to her health history the last few months/address any concerns her primary caregiver had once she did start getting her medications.The third night she was left in her bed crying in excruciating pain, and after asking her nurse to please help her put her leg down off the bed/let her get out of the bed he refused to do anything for hours (the entire night until I talked to her at 6-7am). The therapy staff made her cry on a daily basis making her feel like she was a child with no respect. That was already heartbreaking, but it only got worse from there. She woke up on day 7 of being there (after crying almost everyday due to the awful care there) with blood in her urine, a fever, and diahrea. After her family members called asking for the faculty to please do blood work to check numbers that have been off as recently as 2 days ago / have a history of fluctuating due to her having similar symptoms to past ones (confusion, hand numbness, nausea, diarrhea, and lethargy) that also cause heart attacks - they refused to do so until the next day with multiple nurses telling me there was no need - they said, “if your so worried you can call an ambulance”. I finally called the ambulance hours later when she lost consciousness while talking on the phone with me (I was out of town unfortunately) and asked multiple times/people to please let me talk to her to warn her the ambulance was coming - they refused. They then sent the ambulance away saying it was not necessary (knowing nothing about her history), would not let my mothers power of attorney send her on the ambulance, and forced us to drive there in the middle of the night to check on her because they refused to try and wake her so we could make sure she was coherent and ok/still asking to just talk to her…I could not get her out of this place fast enough. I have experience with so many places/hospitals in the healthcare field and this is by far the biggest mistake we have ever made sending her here.They promised they would have bloodwork done to check deadly levels by 4-6am the next morning after refusing to let me talk to her that entire night… They called me the next day saying I should trust them/give them a chance, and the blood work I requested was deemed unnecessary by the doctor (Dr. Skinner), but they did it later that day.As soon as they got the bloodwork back I got a call saying all 3 of the numbers I knew was off, were off, and they were sending her to the ER immediately. She is now in the hospital Septic, in pain, and miserable.They are trying to prepare us for the worst outcome… she screamed every night she was here in pain (burning/stabbing/feeling like being eaten from the inside out).Thank God she is out of plaza/Dr. Skinners care. They made her suffer atleast 24 hours longer because they could not do a simple blood draw.No life is worth that simple of a mistake.——————————Update: After the most awful pain I have ever seen someone go through, and screaming in pain from the infection plaza let get out of control. We lost her sadly within days unexpectedly…. I will never understand why doing a little blood work and looking at her history to diagnose her correctly was so hard… it’s heartbreaking. She had so much life to live, grandkids to love, and so many plans for the future.

If I could give this place nothing, I would. My mother was sent here for rehab and it is the worst facility in town. There is one nurse for about 15 patients, no one to help with showers. In fact I showered my parent twice while there. The meals are always late, breakfast arriving at 11! I have complained, and complained and all they can say is sorry, give us a chance. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE! We are actively moving to another rehab facility.
