Home Care in Easton, Maryland
Nestled east of the Chesapeake Bay, Easton offers seniors balmy summers, pleasant winters and a comforting blend of small-town living and urban amenities. This rural, coastal town is home to 16,671 residents, of whom 23% are aged 65 and over.
Easton’s SeniorScore is 75, above the national average of 72. This score reflects the town’s senior friendliness in four categories: Health & Safety, Recreation & Leisure, Finances, and General Quality of Life. With property taxes, state income taxes and city sales taxes that are less than the national average in addition to a high per capita income, Easton earned a score of 72 in the Finances category. Its Recreation & Leisure score is 67 in part because it's small, but the town has a wide range of senior-friendly outdoor and indoor venues for its size. Although a high number of Medicare-registered health care providers are here, there's only one hospital, resulting in a Health & Safety score of 58. Easton has high levels of precipitation each year and low air quality, which brings its Quality of Life score to just 68, but its low population density may be an advantage for some seniors.
Easton boasts lush landscaping, antique shops and locally caught seafood served in one-of-a-kind restaurants. Seniors can enjoy art galleries, golf courses and fishing in abundance. Plentiful senior recreation programs are available here, in addition to a wealth of local initiatives that help older residents live independently in their communities.
In this guide, we cover the cost of home care in Easton and discuss some local low- or no-cost programs and services that can help older residents here continue living in their homes as they age.
