Luzerne County Transportation Authority operates the Shared-Ride service, the Senior Citizens Transit Program and the Medical Assistance Transportation Program. The Shared-Ride program provides curb-to-curb service, eliminating the need for seniors and disabled adults to wait at local bus stops. Older adults in the Senior Citizens Transit Program qualify for reduced bus fares, making it easier to get around town. Meals on Wheels Wyoming Valley delivers nutritious meals to residents of Kingston and other areas of Luzerne County. All meals are prepared at the Church of Christ Uniting and delivered by volunteers who have a friendly smile for recipients. Every delivery includes one hot meal, one sandwich, a slice of bread with butter, a piece of fruit and a serving of dessert. The service costs $30 per week, or just $6 per day.
