Central Island Healthcare

Our mother was a long-term care resident for 3 months at Central Island Healthcare. We found this facility to be an extremely clean and safe environment. We always saw the maintenance staff hard at work.We want to express our heartfelt appreciation for the professional and supportive care she received from everyone on “3rd Floor South”, including the nursing and social work staff, CNAs, Physical and Occupational therapists, activity directors, and the primary care physician.We want to give additional thanks to the administration and reception staff for all your help.Everyone was attentive to her needs as well as her personal hygiene. She was always clean, dressed, and out of bed each morning, and encouraged to participate in activities to the best of her ability. Her physical and emotional needs were addressed in a respectful, compassionate, and dignified manner.

My mother went in for short-term care to recover from a hip replacement. The center almost killed her. 3 visits to the emergency room; did not disclose of a bedsore that almost killed her. She is still on an IV antibiotics and in the care of Plainview wound care specialist. They did not want to send her for an MRI on a weekend since they would have to fork over $800 of medicare funds. CI does not care. Nurse aides do not turn over patients every few hours. Stay away.

I, Amita Marks, Phd, have been working at Central Island for 7 years as a Psychologist and observe the staff dedication to patients on a daily basis. When a situation hit close to home and my mother required physical therapy last month to get back on her feet, I could not think of a better place to entrust my mother's care than to Central Island Healtcare. I knew I could not accommodate her needs, but also knew she would receive compassionate and quality care. My mother stayed at the facility for three weeks and flourished with the exceptional care. The rehab staff, namely Dawn, Bibi (Small), and Bibi Azize were phenomenal. Their dedication to physical and occupational therapy helped my mother regain her strength. The care and professionalism of nursing staff (Pat, Ely, Lucy, Joseph and others) exceeded my expectation. Particularly remarkable was Sisly, the nurse practitioner, who often stopped by just to say hello to my mother in her native language, which genuinely made her day. Additionally, the CNAs (Sharon, Gelena, Yani, Debi, Katie) made my mother feel comfortable and more than just a patient. Anna, Lissy, Larry, and Mr. Fontana in the kitchen went the extra mile to make sure my mother, a picky eater, was satisfied with her meals. Further, the case manager, Irene, and the social worker, Nicole, made what would ordinarily be a painful process, simple and helpful. Collectively, all of the departments involved in my mother's care made an enormous difference in our lives. As my mother said, "The love and care of the staff revived me," and our family could not agree more. I will always remember with boundless gratitude, the compassionate care my mother received at Central Island. Thank you from bottom of my heart.
