Devereux House Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation

If I could give it 0 stars I would. My grandmother was transferred to Devereaux following a hip surgery at Salem Hospital. After a couple of weeks at Devereaux with minimal progress she began to deteriorate rapidly and essentially stopped eating. All the while the medical staff insisted that she was doing great, her weight was fine, and bloodwork was normal. After 2 more weeks of continued deterioration my father was forced to call 911 against fierce objections from the medical staff to get her out of Devereaux and back into the hospital ER where she was immediately found to have both severe pneumonia and an antibiotic resistant blood infection. As I am writing this review we are still not sure that she will survive this ordeal. Under no conditions should you ever bring your family member to Devereaux! The medical staff here are deeply incompetent, lazy, and don't care about the well-being of their patients. They put on a good show when you come to visit, but are an otherwise cold hearted and borderline criminal bunch that deserve to go to prison for their treatment of vulnerable seniors. STAY AWAY!

I put one star as their rating, but zero stars would be more accurate! The nursing staff was lazy and incompetent. They don't even check on their patients, especially at night. Two out of the three 11pm-7am nurses slept right at the nurse's station desk most of the night! When I would need to ask them for anything for my loved one I was met with sighs and eye rolling! It is not even like me to rate any service, even when I get poor service. This is different, I would hate for anyone to go through what my family and I did at the Devereaux House! If you're thinking about putting a family member in their care, please don't do it!
