New Homestead Home For Adults

I can imagine how hard the process is to find a place for mom or another family member in the times we are in. I highly recommend the New Homestead as a very safe placement in these difficult times. My mother lived at the New Homestead for the last five years of her life. I will be forever grateful for the care she received there. Mom was very well cared for and loved the place. As her needs changed over time the New Homestead was always creative and flexible in providing her with the appropriate continuum of care. New Homestead did an amazing job when Covid hit. They responded fast and with an ongoing diligence in protecting their residents. Mom was kept safe from Covid there in the heart of Queens - Kew Gardens.The New Homestead is a unique place in a great neighborhood where everything is within walking distance. Everything Mom needed was available at the New Homestead but we enjoyed walking around town or going to the parks near by when I visited. The building, a converted historical hotel is smaller than many other adult facilities. It’s not overwhelming in size. It has a nice old fashioned homey feel and a really nice garden where she liked to watch the world go by. She had a beautiful private room and enjoyed the bright sunny dining room. She liked the food. The relationships and communication we developed with the staff was excellent. She lived so many good memories there. She had wonderful friends, great caretakers and great times. The activity director is excellent. When they could visit many community members were invited there; entertainers, musicians, school children, art therapists and various religious practitioners. Residents took fabulous day trips to cultural venues. Times do not permit these activities now but excellent care continues.
