The absolute WORST. My Mom lived at the courtyard at Newbury Court for exactly one month. After specifically telling them my Mom has a tendency to wander away and being told they are used to that and can handle her I agreed to move her in there. I furnished the room, and paid the $5000 non-refundable "community fee" in addition to first and last months fees. After three weeks I was called at 11pm and told Mom was agitated and I had to get right over there now or they were calling an ambulance to take her to an emergency room. I got there, and Mom was agitated but easily re-directed. She went right back to her room & to sleep, BUT I was told I had to stay the night with her, INCASE she gets agitated again or again an ambulance would be called. I complied. The next day, THEY decided that I needed to hire someone to watch Mom 24/7 while at Newbury Court. $25x24x30=$18,000 additional monthly fee. I paid this while I looked for another place for Mom. Which I found in Lexington, and have been SUPER happy with ever since. This place was 100% about the dollars, not the residents. BEWARE of them. PS- Ask to see their actual credentials -- I found out after the fact, the management in charge were in no way qualified for the positions they held.

Both my parents were residents of the New England Deaconess Association facility at Newbury Court in Concord, MA. My mother who had Alzheimers was cared for at their full service nursing home known as Rivercrest. She was there for over a decade because there was no other comparable nursing home. The Certified Nursing Aides and Nurses there were like family and fully understood her needs. She never had any bed sores, her skin was amazingly good because of the attention they pay to their care. I still stop by to say hello and I know they miss her.My father was able to live more independently in the Newbury Court part of the Concord facility. There are two large (6 story) wings that overlook the Concord River: Newbury North and Newbury South. He could no longer care for our home and quite honestly needed to find a new social context. Anyone with aging parents knows that those who are long-lived lose their friends and are often without new options. Newbury Court was a good fit for Dad and he thrived there making many new friends. He enjoyed the staff and had fun with them. It's a wonderful community.
