Our Lady of Consolation Geriatric Care Center

My mom, released from ICU directly to the care of the this facility center received such horrific and alarming care, so much so, we took her out within 60 hours of her arrival. We observed that she could have died if left in the facility’s care. We are empathetic to the staff shortage and over-worked personnel, but nothing excuses the horrific bedside manners, rudeness, and rough handling that was received by certain care members. The patients are there to rehabilitate, to get well enough to go home where they much prefer to be. Instead, error in dispensing unnecessary medicines, and the suggestion to wear diapers because help to the restroom was an unreasonable request - said the staff, rudely voicing complaints loudly to each other and frightening my mom. This behavior resulted in a much more dire circumstance if my mom stayed even another day.More than anything we want others to know not to assume kind and respectful care is always being administered - to always check in on their loved ones often, ask questions and take matters in your own hands. Help others know about your findings. Hopefully, the future holds a place for only the passionate care- providers and rids of the less than thoughtful people. They are damaging to the patients in more ways than they know.
