Haven of Yuma

I was on short term therapy at Haven ofYuma. Recovering from Lumbar Spine Fusion/Severe sciatica pain. Sent directly from YRMC. I thought I would stay for 4 days which turned out to be 18 days of twice daily therapy. My medications were administrated as well as my supplements of vitamins. The Food was good enough, Frank kitchen director had a second menu choice. Soups of the day. Vending machines in one of 5 activity rooms. Gardens. The staff of nurses were helpful. I realize they were busy therefore sometimes would take longer to respond. I had my schedule for showers twice a week with Maria at attendance if I needed help, which I did. I enjoyed playing card games (Lotteria) I met other patients in therapy and in the halls as I walked off my pain, often. Susan thought me how to play solitaire with actual cards. We put puzzle pieces together. Some patients would complain about being in the facility too long. I would remind them that they should put an effort into the therapy sessions. Yes it was painful, but it would eventually get better so that they could go home. Joe head of therapy staff was very caring, I would run into him late at night. He was still working as I walked the halls. My only complaint was my mattress, It was terribly uncomfortable. I would complain to the nurses, eventually calling the front office to compain directly. That same day I was changed to the empty bed next to me in the same room. That mattress was to be thrown out. Above all my stay at Haven of Yuma was comfortable, Nurse Dolores was kind, friendly, helpful I enjoyed her pleasant, happy personality. Thank you for sending me home with instructions on continued therapy to be done at home.

My Dad stayed in the Yuma facility for a little over 3 months. It was a mixed experience. Little to no privacy in small rooms for two people. My Dad, who was recovering from a stroke, caught some nasty colds from his roommates and was not able to to get rid of his runny nose until after he moved out. Seemed to be little concern to the facility to pair him with someone who had phenomena. The nursing staff was hit and miss - some who did their job well and others who didn’t. The food left a little bit to be desired. My Dad is diabetic and it was tough making good choices with no nutritional information and I was appalled when I found out most of the available fruit was canned in heavy syrup. The standard meal was meat, mashed potatoes and gravy. The bright spot was the rehab provided. The rehab center is staffed with caring professionals that helped my Dad recover some functionality.

The staff there is very friendly, and helpful. Every time I enter I get a warm feeling . The facility is very clean . They took good care of my grandfather, I could have not asked for better care .
