All the management and staff took care of our mom for the last 14 months of her life. At home she was on death's door. When she arrived at Gull Arbor the owner/manager called in the doctor (yes, he is on call and very knowledgeable about senior care. Within 6 weeks mom was back to her happy self, a retired 2nd grade school teacher with her new set of close friends. She ate better because almost all of the residents were about her age with the same interests. One day she lined up the staff (teachers) and the patients (students) and everyone had to get their school pictures taken. They loved mom as we did. They were true friends until the end. Unfortunately mom had a series of small strokes but passed away comfortably and calmly listening to her favorite songs with us singing along. She was always clean, well-kept, fed, and interested. Their best times were meal times and arts and crafts. She also liked the theme based decorations because she always did that at home. Just an awesome place to take your parent if you want a pleasant, comforting atmosphere. We loved it and were there almost every day, at different times of day and night, just to check on mom. It was too hard for us to physically and emotionally take care of her ourselves anymore, but we loved her and they did too. You are family there, then and forever.
